What makes Unique Places, well... Unique?

We understand and can help you plan around all of your land use alternatives ranging from a full residential development to a protecting your property in perpetuity for conservation purposes. The "right approach" will surely be found somewhere in between, but no other team in the industry combines the same skill sets and experience to help you to find the right land design and management solution for you.

Once you select the "right approach", you may want our help in implementing your plan. Our team specializes in strategic implementation with your current set of advisors and land managers.

We are also uniquely positioned to help you with a full range of land management and habitat restoration activities. No other firm combines land planning, design implementation, and land management into one, conservation driven team.

Our first goal is to understand the value in your land.

Ultimately, no piece of property is the same, and our approach to real estate reflects our appreciation for each property’s inherent uniqueness. Regardless of the project scale, we begin our process of working with our clients to develop a deeper understanding of what value can be found by evaluating the unique features of their land.

Working at the regional or landscape level, we may focus on a particular watershed or a block of economically-viable working farmland.

Working with landowners at the parcel level, we focus on their story and priorities, helping them to identify what is most meaningful about their land. We can then weave that information together with an ecological assessment of the property.

In some instances, we serve as a conservation buyer for land that we, or our partners, identify as having high conservation value.

Each Story is Unique
Once we identify the conservation assets that make a property unique, our Design Shop creates a plan (or multiple plans) to protect these assets. Our plans are directed by numerous sources, including conservation plans, development trends, real estate values, conservation funding opportunities, ecological and natural resources data, and site heritage. They are designed to integrate both conservation and financial opportunities.
