Lake Logan

This 40-acre lakefront property sits on Lake Logan, a pristine private-access lake spanning 80 acres across the Pigeon River Valley. Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, the land backs up to N.C. Gamelands and the Shining Rock Wilderness in the Pisgah National Forest, where hikers and literary pilgrims can travel the Art Loeb trail to the top of Cold Mountain. The Nantahala National Forest lies to the west.
Originally owned by Champion International, the land was saved from development through the "Save Lake Logan" campaign, which was launched in 1998 to keep the area's natural splendor intact. The Episcopal Diocese bought approximately 300 acres, including these 40 acres, to create the Lake Logan Episcopal Center. In 2000 the Clean Water Management Trust Fund acquired a conservation easement on the entire 300 acres surrounding the lake. The easement protects Lake Logan’s water quality and the adjacent wildlife habitat by limiting the number of buildings, amount of heated square footage and development on the property. The property can accommodate both lakefront and wooded home sites, and its elevation ranges from 2,925 to 3,250 feet. The conservation easement covers all 40 acres, limiting development to protect water quality and wildlife habitat. |
