Documenting and Protecting Biodiversity Posted on April 15, 2014 by UPLLC

Christopher Wilson, Director of Conservation Science for Unique Places, was invited to speak at the 2014 annual conference of the Western Working Group of Partners in Flight in Ventura, California. Partners in Flight is a consortium of academic, government, and NGO organizations dedicated to advancing bird conservation in the Americas, and has an increasing interest in encouraging the use of conservation science to conserve priority and focal species of birds on privately conserved lands. Chris is the author of the book Documenting and Protecting Biodiversity on Land Trust Projects, recently published by the Land Trust Alliance. His talk familiarized the audience with how private lands conservation in commonly practiced, and highlighted areas where the use of conservation science could advance strategic biodiversity conservation while simultaneously meeting the practical needs of landowners and conservation land trusts.
