On Friday, May 30, a team from Unique Places volunteered at the grand opening of the Natural Heritage Program Trail and sign installation at Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve in Durham, NC. ┬áThe work day included invasive species treatment, bridge building, a tour of the NHP trail, trail maintenance and installation of the informational signs Unique Places created.┬áThe team designed and created two sign panels that give visitors more information and trail descriptions of the preserve. Penny’s Bend protects many species within the Piedmont savanna, rich forest, and dry pine-dominated bluff ecosystems.
